Why aren't we living our dreams?

on Thursday, June 23, 2011

In relation to the previous post, there is this hanging question: "Why are not we living our dreams?" Given the instance that this will affect our life all throughout, still, why not?

Because of one thing. There is something we are trained to honor more than our dreams: THE COMFORT ZONE.
(Look at this poor turtle right here, i mean left)

The comfort zone is all things we have done often enough to feel comfortable doing again. Say, surfing the net. Many have been into this and already becoming our comfort zone. Instead of thinking for our dreams, we are stuck because we always surf the net, play games, watch videos, etc - in short, we are bounded by our comfort zone.
( <--- See this lazy man? uh! Oh no, don't say your not guilty! Your number one comfort zone is, of course, your bed!)

Whenever we do something new, it falls outside the barrier of the comfort zone. In even contemplating a new action, we feel fear, guilt, unworthiness, hurt feelings, anger - all those things we generally think of as "uncomfortable".

When we feel uncomfortable enough long enough, we tend to feel discourage (a form of exhaustion), and we return to thoughts, feelings and actions that are more familiar, more practiced, more predictable - more well, comfortable.

The irony is that the feelings we have been taught to label "uncomfortable" are, in fact, among the very tools necessary to fulfill our dreams. As it turns out, the bricks used to build the walls of comfort zone are made of gold.

So start stepping out of whatever comfort zone you have because "Life begins at the end of your comfort zone".
